Jul 07, 2018, By joshita

Hello all,

Welcome back to my blog. Essential oils have been used by many cultures around the world for centuries for religious purposes, beauty care, food preparation and preservation, as incense, for perfumes and to heal the sick. Traditional Indian medicine called Ayur Veda which dates back to 2000 BC incorporates essential oils in their healing potions.

I have used few essential oils in my DIYs and skincare routine and I enjoy using them. When Vya Naturals sent me their essential oils pack with 5 oils, I was elated. The pack has

  • Turmeric essential oil
  • Camphor essential oil
  • Anise essential oil
  • Lemon essential oil
  • Orange essential oil

About Vya Naturals

V – Vimal (pure)

Y – Yajas (reverence)

A – Ayush (healthy life)

It is true that all names mean something. In our case, the name doesn’t merely have a meaning, it encapsulates our belief, our philosophy. Vya is reverence for a pure and healthy life. It’s a confluence of three simple words of Sanskrit, the ancient language of India.

We make sure that we source the finest natural ingredients that are not only safe and non-toxic but also effective. Our formulations are original, created by us, and tested on people, not animals. We use therapeutic- grade essential oils, natural plant-based butters, natural clays and plant-based waxes.

And we definitely DO NOT use parabens, sulfates, artificial colors, artificial dyes, mineral oils, formaldehyde releasers, animal ingredients, artificial scents, phthalates, chemicals, fillers, mineral oils, or petroleum. ALL our formulations are vegetarian, and 95% of the range is vegan.

Goodness of Essential Oils & Ways to Use Them

1.Turmeric essential oil

Turmeric essential oil is derived from the root of the turmeric plant. One of the major active compounds in turmeric is curcumin, which is a powerful antioxidant and is anti-inflammatory. It fights acne, reduces blemishes, lightens skin, treats sunburn and avoids wrinkles.

I mix turmeric essential oil with carrier oil (coconut oil, almond oil) and apply it on my skin as part of my night time skin care routine. I also add few drops of the essential oil in boiling water for a facial steam.

2.Camphor essential oil

White Camphor essential oil is one of the most powerful oils that offer various uses and health benefits. It is used for respiratory relief, insect repellent, reduces nervous disorder, and relaxes nerves and brain. It is also beneficial in hair care and strengthens roots, boosts hair growth and kills lice.

I use it in an essential oil diffuser or apply few drops on curtains so that it spreads the aroma. For hair care, I mix it with carrier oil and apply it on my hair.

3.Anise essential oil

It is highly relaxing and helps to deal with anger, depression, stress and anxiety. It is used in aromatherapy to promote peaceful sleep, eases breathing, and is a natural remedy for PMS symptoms. However, it is advisable to use only few drops keeping in view of its narcotic effects.

I apply one or two drops on my pillow or bed sheet an hour before I sleep. The smell creates a relaxed environment for sleep and also helps in deep and peaceful sleep. You can also make DIY scented candles as I feel this aroma would be just perfect.

4.Lemon essential oil

Lemon essential oils are one of the most popular citrus essential oils and are used widely. Lemon essential oil is an astringent and detoxifying in nature and rejuvenates sagging or tired-looking skin. It has calming properties, eliminates negative emotions, treats asthma and gets rid off dandruff.

I mix a few drops of lemon essential oil with coconut oil and apply on my hair for about an hour. I then rinse it off with a mild shampoo. It helps in treating dandruff and keeps my hair smelling fresh.

5.Orange essential oil

Orange essential oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing, antidepressant, antiseptic properties. It helps in controlling acne, cleanses skin, heals cracked feet, relieves stress, prevents fungal infections and helps in elimination of houseflies.

I mix a few drops of orange essential oil with almond oil and apply it on my body and massage. I leave it on for 15 minutes and then take bath. I also mix few drops with epsom salt and add it to my bathing water.

My Experience

I absolutely loved the packaging of the essential oils pack and it is appropriate for gifting as well. This pack has very unique essential oils which I haven’t used before. The best thing about these oils is that, they have the authentic smell but aren’t overpowering especially the citrus fragrances. So it doesn’t irritate my sensitive noses. If you have been following me for a while, you’d know that I’m allergic to lemon smell. The lemon essential oil has a faint citrusy fragrance which reminds me of lemon puff.

I feel that an addition of dropper would have been more convenient as one has to be extra careful while using, else you may end up using more drops than needed. Other than that, Vya Naturals essential oils pack is a good deal and a perfect gifting option for aromatherapy and DIY lovers.
