Welcome to my blog. In today’s post I’ll be sharing an interesting DIY with black cumin seed oil which has reduced my mother’s hyper pigmentation to a great extent. It has also worked well for removing scars and brightened my skin. When I posted about it in my Instagram stories, many showed interest to know about it.
If you are wondering how I started experimenting with black cumin seed oil, it all started with a conversation with my mom. She was sharing her childhood memories and how often she would fall down and get wounds (she was an adventurous kid). Having grown up at her grandparents’ place, her grandmother would apply black cumin seed oil for the wounds and it would work magically. In fact, it was incorporated in her skincare and hair care routine.
What is Black Cumin seed oil? Why is it beneficial?
Black cumin seed oil is derived from the Nigella sativa plant and is also commonly known as black oil. It has been called as ‘veritable fountain of youth’ . It is a legendary beauty secret of Queen Cleopatra and Nefertiti who used it in their skin and hair care routine. It is reported to be found in Egyptian Pharoah Tutankhamun’s tomb.
It is popularily used in the Middle East, the Mediterranean and India. It is also called as ‘the seed of blessing’ in Middle East. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and even compounds that improve cell growth. It is very moisturizing, reduces signs of aging, improves the appearance of wrinkles and blemishes.
How to Use it?
I made this mixture for my mother for her hyper pigmentation marks and she has been using it on and off for the past 6 months. Right after a week’s usage, a slight difference was visible in her skin texture. It had reduced the marks and become brighter. After 5 months, her pigmentation has reduced to 50% as she had quite stubborn marks. I’ll be updating about the results on my Instagram stories. So make sure to follow me there!
After seeing the difference on her skin, I started using the oil at night. It made my skin bright, plump and clear. But once my skin became oily during Summer, I had few breakouts. So I’ve stopped using at night and instead use it for 2 hours in the evening. It has reduced my pigmentation around my mouth and also has shown slight difference on my dark circles.
I’m not a certified formulator and I’m a skin care enthusiast who loves trying different skincare DIYS. If you are allergic to any of these ingredients, stop using it immediately and consult with a skin specialist.
